Dallas Fire-Rescue<\/a> is responding to the Mountain Creek and Red Bird areas Sunday afternoon for a grass fire<\/a> that sent a thick plume of black smoke into the air that could be seen for miles.<\/p>\n

DFR spokesman Jason Evans said units were dispatched shortly before 5 p.m. after receiving a 911 call reporting a grass fire near the 4500 block of Barstow Boulevard.<\/p>\n

The fire response was made as triple-digit temperatures<\/a> roasted the region<\/a>. Evans said a small area of vegetation was initially on fire but has since spread, indicating the fire is a threat to the nearby community.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt this time, I can only confirm that the fire has spread to one structure, but I\u2019m unable to confirm what kind of structure it is,\u201d Evans said.<\/p>\n

DFR has dispatched seven fire engines,\u00a0three rescue trucks and a brush truck among other resources.\u00a0As of 5:48 p.m., Evans said the incident is ongoing, and no injuries have been reported.<\/p>\n

According to call logs, more than 15 Dallas police units also responded to the area to assist.<\/p>\n
