EL PASO, Texas (KTSM<\/a>) \u2014 One person was seriously injured in a South-Central El Paso fire Monday morning, Aug. 17, according to the El Paso Fire Department (EPFD).<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for EPFD confirmed that after 9:30 a.m., emergency dispatchers received multiple calls of a fire along the the 3400 block of Durazno Avenue.<\/p>\n

Crews reportedly encountered a one-story commercial building at 3417 Durazno Avenue with visible smoke and fire. According to El Paso Fire Battalion Chief Jesus Salmeron, the auto mechanic shop had a “working fire with a lot of the engines and a vehicle.”<\/p>\n

A nearby apartment unit at 3415 Durazno Avenue caught fire.<\/p>\n

Firefighters reportedly initiated a fire attack and conducted a primary search for possible victims.<\/p>\n

One person was found, treated, and taken to a hospital with serious burn injuries. No other injuries were reported.<\/p>\n

According to fire officials, 12 units and 36 firefighters responded to the scene.<\/p>\n

Fire investigators from the El Paso Fire Marshal’s Office were called to the scene.<\/p>\n

The cause of the fire is under investigation.<\/p>\n
