HOUSTON, Texas — Apple officials opened a new manufacturing facility in Houston as part of a $500 billion initiative from the company to strengthen production in the U.S. and the Houston area.<\/p>\n

The new 20,000-square-foot Advanced Manufacturing Center will be the second largest facility that produces Apple technology in the U.S., according to an\u00a0Aug. 13 news release.<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cIn less than nine months, we have invested hundreds of millions of dollars into this Houston facility,\u201d Apple CEO Tim Cook said. \u201cWe stood up a factory, started production and shipped the first advanced AI servers off the line … and we\u2019re pleased to begin Mac mini production later this year.\u201d<\/p>\n The new facility will not only provide manufacturing for Apple, but also interactive classes and trainings for businesses and entrepreneurs on principles such as:<\/p>\n Advanced manufacturing principlesSmart technology use in manufacturingAdvanced automation techniques<\/p>\n Apple officials said the classes are an effort to \u201caccelerate\u201c the use of smart manufacturing in businesses. The classes will also be available to college students who would like hands-on learning about the technology industry.<\/p>\n What they\u2019re saying<\/p>\n Local, state and federal officials all commended the new facility\u2019s opening, which was\u00a0announced in February 2025.<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cApple\u2019s expansion in Houston underscores Texas as the epicenter of American industry and innovation,\u201d Gov. Greg Abbott said in a statement. \u201cThis new facility will deliver the skills Texans need to excel in advanced manufacturing. We thank Apple for its confidence in the Lone Star State.\u201d<\/p>\n U.S. Senator Ted Cruz provided a statement highlighting the opportunities for local businesses to have access to higher-end technology in the Houston area.<\/p>\n \u201cThis new facility will drive job creation and directly benefit our communities by giving small- and mid-sized businesses access to cutting-edge equipment, interactive labs and operations expertise,\u201d Cruz said. \u201cThis project isn\u2019t just great news for Lone Star State businesses, however.
