{"id":410578,"date":"2026-08-19T06:26:27","date_gmt":"2026-08-19T06:26:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/410578\/"},"modified":"2026-08-19T06:26:27","modified_gmt":"2026-08-19T06:26:27","slug":"dallas-woman-sentenced-to-life-in-prison-for-cookie-shop-shooting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/410578\/","title":{"rendered":"Dallas woman sentenced to life in prison for cookie shop shooting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A woman convicted of killing the owner of a Dallas cookie shop was sentenced to life in prison this week.<\/p>\n<p>Surveillance video from July 2025 showed Rashonda Lowe, 43, talking with Cookies &#8216;N Smoothies owner Jaime Alejandro Rokkett, 53. The two spoke inside the store located at The Shops at RedBird for about an hour before Lowe shot Rokkett with a handgun, according to court documents.<\/p>\n<p>Lowe then jumped over the counter, fired several more times at close range, left the gun behind, and fled in an SUV. Rokkett died at the scene.<\/p>\n<p>Rokkett&#8217;s wife <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wfaa.com\/article\/news\/local\/1-killed-shooting-the-shops-at-red-bird-dallas-police\/287-ba77c28a-9eb1-4a49-9468-a5bd5451fbc9\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">told a detective<\/a> Lowe had been harassing her husband and that he had a restraining order against her.<\/p>\n<p>Lowe was arrested for murder after turning herself in to Arlington Police. She claimed it was a \u201cdomestic situation with her ex,&#8221; court records show. <\/p>\n<p>She will serve her life sentence at the state prison in Huntsville.<\/p>\n<p>Alexsis Jones is a reporter and producer for KERA News.
