{"id":410756,"date":"2026-08-19T11:12:20","date_gmt":"2026-08-19T11:12:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/410756\/"},"modified":"2026-08-19T11:12:20","modified_gmt":"2026-08-19T11:12:20","slug":"1-dead-2-detained-after-swat-incident-in-west-el-paso","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/410756\/","title":{"rendered":"1 dead, 2 detained after SWAT incident in West El Paso"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">EL PASO, Texas (<a data-ylk=\"slk:KTSM;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;link&quot;,&quot;yLinkElementType&quot;:&quot;article_link&quot;}\" href=\"http:\/\/ktsm.com\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">KTSM<\/a>) &#8212; One person is dead and two people have been detained by El Paso Police after an incident involving SWAT Tuesday, Aug. 18 in West El Paso.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Police have described it as a &#8220;suspicious death&#8221; and the Crimes Against Persons Unit is investigating.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Police spokeswoman Detective Judy Oviedo said police were initially called out at about 3 p.m. for an &#8220;unknown problem&#8221; along the 6800 block of Villa Hermosa.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">When officers arrived, they found one person who was dead and two other individuals who ended up barricading themselves in a home, Oviedo said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">SWAT was called out to help with the situation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The two individuals who barricaded themselves in the home later &#8220;came out of the home unharmed,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The two individuals \u2013 identified only as a man and woman in their late 20s \u2013 have been detained but have not been officially arrested.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">One person was seen being transported from the scene with what a Fire spokesman described as non-life-threatening injuries.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Oviedo said she could not identify who the person was who was transported or how they were related to the incident.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The investigation is still in its preliminary stages and police will be on scene for several more hours, maybe until the morning.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Copyright 2026 Nexstar Media, Inc.
