Police investigate cause of high-speed accident on Potomac Drive<\/p>\n

HOUSTON \u2013 A man is dead after a fiery late-night crash on a Houston street that residents say they could hear from a distance.<\/p>\n

The crash happened around 10:20 p.m. Tuesday at Potomac Drive and Woodway. An SUV traveling northbound on Potomac Drive crossed the median and struck a tree at a high rate of speed. The impact caused the SUV to break apart and catch fire.<\/p>\n

The man inside was the only occupant of the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not been released.<\/p>\n

Houston Police Department is investigating the crash.<\/p>\n
