It looks nothing like it did when I was a kid. New restaurants are popping up all over, old ones are disappearing, and every couple of weeks someone on Facebook declares something like, &#8220;Lubbock just isn&#8217;t the same as it used to be.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>And you know what? They&#8217;re right. It isn&#8217;t the same.<\/p>\n<p>But there are a few things I hope never change&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>I hope Lubbock never loses the small-town feeling. I don&#8217;t really understand how we have it at all. We are actually huge, and even still, you can&#8217;t go anywhere in town without running into at least one person you know. Fundraisers. Local businesses. You know what I mean. We certainly aren&#8217;t afraid to make fun of ourselves. Let&#8217;s keep laughing together.<\/p>\n<p>And, I really hope that despite all of the big changes, Lubbock still feels like home to us all.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s still our town.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s not perfect. It doesn&#8217;t have to be.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s home.<\/p>\n<p>Change is cool and all, but some things are worth keeping exactly the way they are.<\/p>\n<p>Things Lubbock Actually Does Better Than Bigger Cities (No One Talks About This)<\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s more to Lubbock than dust and tumbleweeds.
