Press Release<\/a><\/p>\nGovernor Greg Abbott today joined Tarrant County officials to highlight his property tax reform legislative proposal to keep Texas affordable. Last week, Tarrant County adopted a resolution endorsing the Governor\u2019s agenda to reform Texas\u2019 property tax system that will help lower costs for Texans.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is very achievable for jurisdictions across the entire state to do exactly what Tarrant County has done,\u201d said Governor Abbott. \u201cAnd that is to cut property taxes while fully funding operations in a robust, growing city like Fort Worth and county like Tarrant County.\u201d<\/p>\n
During his remarks, Governor Abbott declared that local governments must live within their means, just as families and the State of Texas do. He highlighted Tarrant County as a model for communities throughout Texas to steward taxpayer dollars responsibly and called on jurisdictions across the state\u00a0to follow Tarrant County\u2019s\u00a0lead.<\/p>\n
Governor Abbott has driven down local property taxes, expanded homestead protections, and advanced conservative fiscal policies that keep Texas the best place in America to live, work, and raise a family. Next session, Governor Abbott\u2019s property tax reform\u00a0agenda will build on that success.<\/p>\n
