(Star-Telegram\/Ian McVea)<\/p>\n<p>                Ian McVea<\/p>\n<p>            Star-Telegram<\/p>\n<p>This weekend, parts of I-30 westbound will be closed in west Fort Worth, and  drivers will need to take a detour.<\/p>\n<p>According to a <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.txdot.gov\/content\/dam\/project-sites\/keep20-30moving\/docs\/westbound-i30-full-closure-between-i20-west-loop-820-august-21-2026.pdf\">news release from TxDOT<\/a>, all lanes of westbound I-30 from West Loop 820 to I-20 will be closed starting at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21 until 6 a.m. Monday, Aug. 24.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s what to expect this weekend.<\/p>\n<p>Why is I-30 closing?                                          <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"responsive-image\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Screenshot 2026-08-20 110202.png\"   width=\"1200\" height=\"0\" title=\"Screenshot 2026-08-20 110202.png\" alt=\"TxDOT will close a portion of I-30 in west Fort Worth for a traffic switch.\"\/>                                                                                    TxDOT will close a portion of I-30 in west Fort Worth for a traffic switch.                                                                                                                                                                        Courtesy photo by TxDOT                                                                                        <\/p>\n<p>According to an email release from TxDOT, \u201cWestbound I-30 from West Loop 820 to I-20 will be closed for a traffic switch onto new permanent pavement.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A traffic switch is when new or temporary lanes are put in place to prepare for road construction crews to work on the other side of the road.<\/p>\n<p>This is a part of TxDOT\u2019s grander <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.txdot.gov\/keep20-30moving.html\">Keep 20-30<\/a> moving plan, a project that will \u201cimprove traffic flow, connect with city streets, include combined transport for cyclists and pedestrians reduce congestion and enhance safety,\u201d according to TxDOT.<\/p>\n<p>Where are the detours?<\/p>\n<p>Signed detours will be posted to the area. All surrounding frontage roads will remain open.<\/p>\n<p>Westbound ramps, including northbound &amp; southbound I-820 direct connectors, will all be closed.
