EL PASO, Texas (KFOX 14, CBS 4) \u2014 El Paso Locomotive FC has been red hot over the past month. The Locos have won four of their last five USL Championship matches. This run of form has them surging up the Western Conference table with El Paso now sitting in fourth place on 31 points, three points off the top spot. <\/p>\n
This run comes off of the back of a rough stretch that saw the Locos go about two months without a league victory. The team believes the turnaround is a result of the mentality in the dressing room. <\/p>\n
“We were a very resilient team through the down times,” Locomotive midfielder Gabriel Torres said. “We trusted the game plan and our things that we were doing before. Now, we are able to reap the benefits at the right time, building momentum towards the last stretch of the season.” <\/p>\n
On Saturday, the Locos will travel up to Colorado to face Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC. The two squads have met twice so far this season. They opened the season with a 2-2 draw back in March, but in June Colorado Springs took a 2-1 victory in the USL Cup. <\/p>\n
“It is a very difficult place to play with the altitude and turf field,” Torres said. “It will require a lot of concentration and attention to the details. We maybe need to divide the game every 15 minutes and maintain the goals we have. Hopefully if we play we the same attitude and mentality as the past games, we can get a good result there.” <\/p>\n
Kick off between El Paso and Colorado Springs is at 7pm on Saturday.
