Organizers have scrubbed Texas\u2019 first-ever space summit<\/a> just a few months before it was to occur in San Antonio<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n The conference<\/a> on the state\u2019s booming commercial space business had been set for Sept. 21-23 at the Henry B. Gonz\u00e1lez Convention Center<\/a>, but it was pushed to sometime in 2027.<\/p>\n Article continues below this ad<\/p>\n Jeff Webster<\/a>, president and CEO of the Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce<\/a>, said he made the call earlier this summer. The\u00a0space commission committed to holding it in San Antonio after the chamber offered to host the event.<\/p>\n Article continues below this ad<\/p>\n Space Commission Chair Gwen Griffin, San Antonio Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones and Webster held a news conference<\/a> at Brooks in November\u00a0 2025 to announce the summit.\u00a0<\/p>\n READ NEXT: Starship reaches safe harbor near Christmas Island after weeks at sea<\/a><\/p>\n At the time, the event was expected to attract more than 2,000 attendees with a budget of between $1.1 million and $2.1 million. Now the budget is closer to the lower amount, Webster said.\u00a0<\/p>\n As for sponsorships and attendee sign-ups, he said, \u201cwe were doing OK \u2014 I just didn\u2019t think we were going to separate it from good to great, and we want great.\u201d<\/p>\n Article continues below this ad<\/p>\n Ads for Capital Factory<\/a>, Swift Aerospace, the Space Force Association and the National Security and Innovation Council still appear on the conference website.<\/p>\n A notice on the website<\/a> said the extra time will help organizers \u201cbuild on the strong foundation already in place, deepen industry engagement and deliver an event that matches the scale of the sector it represents.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n S.A.
