LUBBOCK, Texas \u2013 Texas Tech volleyball will be hosting two free scrimmages this weekend before the season officially begins next weekend. The Red Raiders have their annual Red & Black scrimmage tonight at 6 p.m. followed by an 11 a.m. match against UTEP tomorrow, both matches will be played in the United Supermarkets Arena Practice Gym and are open to the public.<\/p>\n
This will also be the first time that Tech plays on its new Taraflex court, a vinyl lining put over the court surface that improves safety for the student-athletes and offers a fresh look to the playing surface for the volleyball program.<\/p>\n
Tony Graystone enters his 11th season as the head coach for the Red Raiders and is third all-time in program history for wins. Tech’s roster this season features 10 underclassmen and nine upperclassmen showing a good balance of youth and experience. Katelyn Cochran<\/a>, Reagan Engler<\/a> and Emily Contreras<\/a> all enter their fourth year with the Red Raiders as they look to have the most successful year during their tenure.<\/p>\n Maggie Boyd<\/a> joins Texas Tech and indoor volleyball after spending four seasons at UCLA where she was named a four-time First Team All-American, the 2026 AVCA Beach Player of the Year and is a Beach National Champion. Her resume is as impressive as they come in collegiate athletics and her transition to the indoor game will be fun to watch.<\/p>\n Tech’s roster also features impact transfers Gretchen Sigman<\/a>, Sara Bowcutt<\/a> and Taylor Cook<\/a> who all hail from power four schools and will look to be in the rotation early.
