FORT WORTH \u2013 A winning streak stretching over three seasons, and multiple state titles in that time, have been nice for Ryan Powers, but on Friday the senior defensive end and his Fort Worth All Saints teammates accomplished something that could be considered even more elusive. Current All Saints seniors like Powers improved to 3-0 against one of the standout private-school programs in the state: \u00a0Parish Episcopal.<\/p>\n

All Saints\u2019 defense was dominant, making 16 tackles for loss in a 31-11 win over Parish Episcopal <\/a>in a matchup of 2025 TAPPS state champions and the season opener for both teams Friday at McNair Stadium. Powers and tackle Kingston Beyer \u2013 a Wyoming commit \u2013 led the way with four tackles for loss apiece that included three sacks by Powers.<\/p>\n

It is the third consecutive season All Saints \u2013 the No. 3-ranked team in The Dallas Morning News\u2019<\/a> Private Schools area poll \u2013 defeated top-ranked Parish in a season opener. All Saints (1-0), the two-time defending TAPPS Division II state champions, also extended its current overall streak to 29 games. Parish (0-1), the defending Division I state champions, had a 12-game winning streak snapped and was held to its lowest point total since a 7-0 win over Plano John Paul II on Nov. 1, 2019.<\/p>\n

Powers said his team focused on shutting down Parish\u2019s running game and wanted to make Parish pass the ball, even with standout sophomore quarterback Logan Lucero running the show. Parish had 88 yards rushing, averaging just 2.7 yards per carry.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe tried to stop a-gap, b-gap on the run. That was it,\u201d Powers said. \u201cWe tried to make them pass the ball. Our defensive backs tried to stay on their receivers and that would give us time to rush their quarterback.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is awesome. I haven\u2019t lost to Parish in my career. It\u2019s great to beat them every year in the first game.\u201d<\/p>\n

All Saints\u2019 offense wasn\u2019t too shabby either, with the passing game putting the game away in the second half. Quarterback Brailon Davis connected with Noah Tarrant on two touchdown passes in the third quarter, the second going for 63 yards with 4:31 left to give All Saints a 28-3 lead. Davis finished with 257 yards passing, 119 to Jaytn Brites on four receptions while Tarrant had 108 yards on five grabs.<\/p>\n

Brayden Boults ended All Saints\u2019 first two drives with touchdown runs, the second from 18 yards out with 9:05 left in the second quarter to help give All Saints a 14-3 halftime lead. The play that may have provided the most momentum in the first half for All Saints was a 23-yard scramble by Davis on a third-and-12 play. This extended a 54-yard drive ending with a two-yard touchdown run by Boults, who finished with 80 yards in 17 carries.<\/p>\n

Parish had a 174-129 edge in total yards in the first half, with Logan Lucero passing for 123, but the Panthers could only manage a 21-yard field goal by Preston Gaal with 11:19 left in the second quarter. Parish got its lone touchdown on a precise, 74-yard strike to Johnathon Phillips with 2:57 left in the third.
