{"id":413898,"date":"2026-08-22T15:10:08","date_gmt":"2026-08-22T15:10:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/413898\/"},"modified":"2026-08-22T15:10:08","modified_gmt":"2026-08-22T15:10:08","slug":"whataburger-to-open-san-antonio-restaurant-on-northwest-side","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/413898\/","title":{"rendered":"Whataburger to open San Antonio restaurant on Northwest Side"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/whataburger.com\/\" data-link=\"native\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Whataburger<\/a> is opening its newest San Antonio location on the Northwest Side, the first stand-alone restaurant in the city since 2020.<\/p>\n<p>The iconic San Antonio-based chain plans to open the 2,725-square-foot restaurant at 10411 Shaenfield Road on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>The new 24\/7 location, which has hired 62 local employees, will serve its signature burgers, honey butter chicken biscuits, spicy ketchup and limited-time menu items.<\/p>\n<p>The estimated $975,000 restaurant will feature digital menu boards, a double drive-thru and a modernized kitchen. The first drive-thru and dine-in guests will get a gift box with 52 free Whataburger coupons, and opening day guests will receive\u00a0Whataburger-branded belt bags.<\/p>\n<p>Whataburger\u2019s most recent San Antonio location <a href=\"https:\/\/www.expressnews.com\/news\/article\/bucees-loves-travel-stop-commercial-truck-parking-22222187.php\" data-link=\"native\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">opened in May <\/a>within a Love\u2019s Travel Stop at 9530 Southton Road on the Southeast Side. Its last stand-alone restaurant opened at 7023 W. US. 90 near Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland\u00a0in 2020.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The brand also has plans to open <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tdlr.texas.gov\/TABS\/Search\/Project\/TABS2025020254\" data-link=\"native\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">another location<\/a> at 6311 Old Pearsall Road near Miller\u2019s Pond Park next year.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In New Braunfels, the fast-food chain is planning a $400,000 remodel on its location at 123 Creekside Crossing off Interstate 35, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tdlr.texas.gov\/TABS\/Projects\/TABS2026028319\" data-link=\"native\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a filing<\/a> with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. Work on the remodel is expected to start next month. Details in state filings are preliminary and subject to change without notice.<\/p>\n<p>One of the new designs pays homage to the chain\u2019s early days with an A-frame structure featuring its classic orange-and-white-striped branding on the roof. The other will be a smaller 2,000-square-foot footprint without the A-frame design.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Whataburger said that the new San Antonio location \u201cpays respect to Whataburger\u2019s storied history while looking ahead with a forward-thinking design,\u201d but it will not feature the A-frame design, according to a spokesperson.
