\n\tThis is the third meeting and second in Houston. The Cougars are 2-0-0 in such matches, winning 4-1 in Houston in 2023 and 1-0 in Stephenville in 2024. Isa Bergeron-Prejean<\/a> (90), Adelaide Wyrzynski<\/a> (45) and Jessica Baires<\/a> (17) all played significant minutes in the 2024 match.
\n\tHouston is 1-0-0 at home this year and 1-0-3 over its last four home matches. The Cougars beat Northwestern State 5-0 on Thursday at home.

\n\tTarleton State has opened its season with back-to-back draws for the first time in team history.
\n\tPeyton Bryant<\/a> and Victoria Lucksinger<\/a> have yet to sub out, each playing all 180 minutes this season.
\n\tZahra Friess<\/a> (six), Grace Berry<\/a> (six) and Adelaide Wyrzynski<\/a> (five) have combined to take 17 of Tarleton State’s 24 shots this season (70.8 percent). Those three have each scored a goal, totaling the Texans’ three this year. Those three also have 9-of-11 shots on goal for the team, with Wyrzynski leading the Texans with five.
\n\tRylie Bloomfield<\/a> played the entire 90 minutes at goalkeeper in Thursday’s match, earning three saves with one goal allowed. She’s made it eight straight matches with one goal allowed or fewer, last allowing multiple in 2024.
\n\tTarleton State battled UTEP to a 1-1 draw on Thursday in front of a near-capacity crowd (88.6 percent) in its home opener. It was the Texans’ second draw against an FBS institution (1-1 against ULM in 2023). The Texans evened the match in the 58th minute on a Wyrzynski penalty kick, thanks to a foul drawn by Friess.
\n\tTarleton State battled Texas A&M-Corpus Christi to a 2-2 draw in the season opener last week. This marked the fourth time in five playing seasons the Texans have opened the season on the road, and they remained undefeated (1-0-3). Zahra Friess<\/a> scored in the seventh minute, the quickest goal to start a season for the Texans in program history, and the Texans’ two goals on the match marked a new program-best for a season-opener.

\nThe Texans will return home for back-to-back home matches next week. First, Tarleton State hosts UTRGV on Thursday at 7 p.m. on National Burger Day, where the Texans will have a Grumps food truck available for free burgers to first arriving fans to help celebrate. Then on Sunday, Aug. 30, the Texans will host Lamar at 5 p.m. on a Military Appreciation Match.
