{"id":414407,"date":"2026-08-23T05:24:11","date_gmt":"2026-08-23T05:24:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/414407\/"},"modified":"2026-08-23T05:24:11","modified_gmt":"2026-08-23T05:24:11","slug":"irving-officer-shoots-woman-who-advanced-with-a-knife-police-say","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/414407\/","title":{"rendered":"Irving officer shoots woman who advanced with a knife, police say"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/texas\/tag\/irving\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Irving<\/a> police officer shot a knife\u2011wielding woman Saturday after authorities say she ignored commands and advanced on officers.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Her condition wasn&#8217;t immediately known, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/texas\/tag\/irving-police-department\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Irving Police Department<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Officers had responded at about 5:50 p.m. to a domestic disturbance in progress in the 300 block of Rolston Road, authorities said. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Police said the woman had been standing in the street with the weapon, making threats.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Officers gave the suspect verbal commands, but she failed to comply and continued moving toward them,&#8221; Irving police said in a news release.<\/p>\n<p>      <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/irving.jpg#.jpeg\" alt=\"irving.jpg \" height=\"349\" width=\"620\" class=\" lazyload\"  loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>                  Irving Police Department<\/p>\n<p>                CBS News Texas<\/p>\n<p>Police said an officer used a less\u2011lethal weapon, which wasn&#8217;t identified, striking the suspect, but it didn&#8217;t stop her. A second officer then fired their duty weapon, striking her.<\/p>\n<p>Officers provided medical aid until fire department personnel arrived and took her to a hospital.
