Prosecutors revealed new evidence that jurors never heard during Karmelo Anthony<\/a>‘s murder trial, including allegations that he fantasized about stabbing someone and “licking the blood off of the blade,” according to reports. <\/p>\n

The Daily Mail<\/a> reported that the allegations surfaced on Thursday during a hearing following Anthony’s request for a new trial<\/a> in the April 2025 stabbing death of 17-year-old Austin Metcalf<\/a> at a high school track meet in Frisco, Texas. <\/p>\n

Anthony, now 19, was convicted of murder and sentenced to 35 years in prison in June<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Anthony admitted stabbing Metcalf, but said he acted in self-defense amid a confrontation. Jurors rejected that argument.<\/p>\n

During Thursday’s hearing, state prosecutor Bill Wirskye said evidence excluded from the trial included text messages in which Anthony allegedly thought about stabbing someone just hours before he killed Metcalf, according to The Daily Mail<\/a>. <\/p>\n

“There is a text message where he fantasies about stabbing someone and licking the blood off the blade,’ Wirskye said, the media outlet reported.<\/p>\n

Another text message recovered from Anthony’s phone allegedly included a photo of a knife, as well as the words, “I’m lowkey on the verge,” per the outlet. <\/p>\n

Wirskye reportedly said Anthony’s ex-girlfriend had told a school administrator she was afraid of Anthony and accused him of stalking her. <\/p>\n

The Daily Mail<\/a> also reported that Anthony’s lawyers had “damaging evidence about Austin Metcalf” and his twin brother, Hunter.<\/p>\n

Citing court documents, the outlet noted that Anthony’s attorneys had photos of graffiti, alleging that the Metcalf twins and a third boy spray painted “KKK kill all black people, heil hitler” [sic], as well as a racial slur. <\/p>\n

According to the report, the evidence was withheld because prosecutors and Anthony’s trial attorneys had an informal “gentleman\u2019s agreement” to focus solely on what happened under the tent that day and avoid introducing potentially inflammatory character evidence about Antony and Metcalf.<\/p>\n

The news comes after state District Judge John Roach, who presided over Anthony’s trial, was removed from further proceedings<\/a>.
