EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14\/CBS4) \u2014 A woman is accused of causing about $1,500 in damage to another driver\u2019s SUV following a traffic dispute in the line at the Bridge of the Americas, according to a complaint affidavit. <\/p>\n

Lucina Martinez Chavez, 55, is accused of criminal mischief involving damage between $750 and $2,500. <\/p>\n

The incident happened on Sunday after two vehicles nearly collided while approaching an X-ray inspection area at the international crossing.<\/p>\n

According to the affidavit, an El Paso police officer was dispatched at about 5:24 p.m. after receiving a report of a two-vehicle collision and a person banging on another driver’s door.<\/p>\n

The complainant told police she was driving a 2021 Chevrolet Blazer, with a Chihuahua temporary license plate, and was attempting to change lanes when a beige 2024 Suzuki Ertiga, also with a Chihuahua license plate, began honking at her. <\/p>\n

The affidavit states Martinez Chavez was riding in the Suzuki as a rear passenger. <\/p>\n

After the Blazer completed the lane change, the complainant alleged Martinez Chavez got out of the Suzuki, approached the Blazer and struck the driver’s window multiple times before pulling on the driver’s-side door handle.<\/p>\n

The complainant told police Martinez Chavez then returned to the Suzuki, obtained a set of keys and came back to the Blazer. She allegedly used the keys to scratch the driver’s-side door twice, according to the affidavit.<\/p>\n

The responding officer reported seeing deep scratches about 18 inches long on the Blazer. <\/p>\n

The complainant estimated repairs to the door would cost approximately $1,500, the affidavit stated. <\/p>\n

The officer reported watching the footage and seeing Martinez Chavez strike the driver’s-side window with her fist, attempt to open the door, and later make a pulling motion with keys against the door.<\/p>\n

Martinez Chavez gave police a different account of the encounter, the document stated. <\/p>\n

She said several vehicles had been cutting off the Suzuki and that the Blazer attempted to move into their lane while the Suzuki was already moving forward. She told the officer that she got out to speak with the other driver and knocked on the window, but the driver refused to talk to her.<\/p>\n

When questioned about the scratches, Martinez Chavez said she had tried to speak with the complainant but that the woman would not listen, according to the affidavit.<\/p>\n

Police also spoke with Martinez Chavez’s daughter, who had been driving the Suzuki. The affidavit states another family member handed police the set of keys the officer alleged had been used to scratch the Blazer.<\/p>\n
