HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — A pedestrian was killed while walking down a road in north Harris County on Sunday night, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office said.<\/p>\n

According to deputies, a red 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling northbound on the 12400 block of Aldine Westfield Road when the driver hit a pedestrian, identified as Ruben Torrones.<\/p>\n

The sheriff’s office said Torrones was walking northbound on Aldine Westfield Road and failed to yield right of way to the Tahoe.<\/p>\n

Investigators said the impact propelled the pedestrian up in the air, and he landed in the adjacent grassy area.<\/p>\n

Westfield Fire Department paramedics pronounced Torrones dead at the scene, deputies said.<\/p>\n

HSCO said an investigation is underway and the Tahoe’s driver is cooperating with investigators.<\/p>\n
