originally taken into custody while off-duty April 28<\/a> and accused of injury assault to a family member. The charge was considered a Class A misdemeanor. <\/p>\nLopez was released on bond approximately eight hours after the arrest, jail records show. <\/p>\n
According to a Bexar County Sheriff\u2019s Office report obtained by KSAT one day after the arrest, deputies responded to a domestic violence incident involving Lopez and a woman in the 4700 block of Sahara Valleys, which is located near the Interstate 37-Loop 410 interchange. <\/p>\n
The woman told deputies she and Lopez were arguing in a vehicle stopped at a traffic light when Lopez allegedly hit her in her face. She called 911 shortly after. <\/p>\n
Why the case was dismissed <\/p>\n
Bexar County court records show Lopez\u2019s family violence charge was officially dismissed July 17. <\/p>\n
In a Monday statement to KSAT, a Bexar County District Attorney\u2019s Office spokesperson said the case was closed \u201cat the request of the victim (complainant), who chose not to proceed with the charges.\u201d <\/p>\n
\u201cWithout her testimony, we (the DA\u2019s office) were unable to move forward with prosecution,\u201d the spokesperson continued. <\/p>\n
When SAPD announced the April arrest, the department said Lopez, a eight-year veteran of San Antonio Park Police, was placed on administrative duty while it conducted \u201can administrative investigation.\u201d <\/p>\n
KSAT asked SAPD for an update Monday on Lopez\u2019s current status with the department \u2014 whether or not he remains on administrative duty, was reinstated to his typical park police duties or if he was experiencing a different fate. This story will be updated with the department\u2019s response. <\/p>\n
Lopez was the fourth SAPD officer arrested this year, according to a KSAT Investigates analysis. <\/p>\n
