trip to Thailand<\/a> in July before she planned to begin studying for a career in health care when she collapsed and was rushed to a hospital in Thailand. <\/p>\nDoctors discovered a severe brain hemorrhage requiring multiple emergency brain surgeries and placed Thalia on a ventilator.<\/p>\n
Nearly two months later, Thalia remains on a ventilator, but doctors say the swelling in her brain has stabilized. <\/p>\n
She has been receiving care in Thailand since the accident, while her family worked to bring her back home.<\/p>\n
Thalia has made advancements in her recovery. <\/p>\n
She is waking up, opening her eyes and moving her legs.<\/p>\n
On Friday, Thalia, her father and a medical team arrived in Dallas.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor me, it\u2019s a sense of relief,\u201d said Andy Keopraseuth, Thalia\u2019s father.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s what I was going to say,\u201d said Lalita Bermudez, Thalia\u2019s mother.<\/p>\n
\u201cYeah, she\u2019s back. She\u2019s closer to home. We could do a lot more for her here than in Thailand. So it\u2019s been a big weight off our shoulders. I mean, it\u2019s still, you know, we still have a long journey, but it\u2019s just one step closer, you know,\u201d said Andy.<\/p>\n
Thalia is receiving care at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas and will go through recovery, rehabilitation and receive ongoing medical care. <\/p>\n
Doctors were running more tests Monday, and her family says they do not know exactly what her recovery will look like.<\/p>\n
Her family says her journey is not over and this is just the beginning.<\/p>\n
Now that Thalia is home, her family says they will close the GoFundMe. <\/p>\n
Any funds already raised will remain dedicated to her recovery and medical care.<\/p>\n
