CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – The parent company that owns Carowinds is moving out of Charlotte, just a few years after arriving.<\/p>\n

Six Flags announced in a news release<\/a> on Tuesday, Aug. 25, that it was moving its corporate headquarters from Charlotte to Arlington, Texas. The move is expected to be completed by March 2027.<\/p>\n

The amusement company set up its headquarters in Charlotte after it announced a merger<\/a> with Cedar Fair in late 2023.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are deeply grateful to our Charlotte-based and shared services team members whose dedication, passion and expertise have helped shape our company,\u201d Six Flags president and CEO John Reilly said in the Aug. 25 news release. \u201cTheir contributions have been invaluable, and we are committed to supporting them throughout this transition with respect, transparency and care.\u201d<\/p>\n

Reilly said \u201cmany\u201d Six Flags team members will have an opportunity to relocate to Arlington.<\/p>\n

Six Flags said it will continue to invest in Carowinds and the adjoining Carolina Harbor water park.<\/p>\n

In the news release, the company said it has five parks in Texas, and the move \u201cbrings leadership closer to many of its operations.\u201d<\/p>\n

The company described the Dallas-Fort Worth region — which includes Arlington — as \u201can ideal home\u201d for Six Flags headquarters.<\/p>\n

Six Flags indicated in the news release that its headquarters will be housed at Choctaw Stadium, which is situated just a short walk from both the Dallas Cowboys\u2019 and Texas Rangers\u2019 stadiums.<\/p>\n

Across North America, Six Flags operates a network of 34 amusement and water parks, and nine resorts.<\/p>\n
