Six Flags Entertainment Corporation is packing up its corporate headquarters and heading back to Texas.

The company announced it will move its headquarters from Charlotte to Arlington, Texas, in 2027, relocating to offices it already operates out of at Choctaw Stadium. The stadium has served as a Six Flags corporate office since 2020 and already houses part of the company’s workforce. The full transition is expected to wrap up by March 2027.

So why the move?

Six Flags President and CEO John Reilly said it comes down to getting everyone under one roof. Arlington sits at the center of the Dallas-Fort Worth area, close to five of the company’s Texas parks, and Reilly said having leadership on the ground there will make it easier to stay connected to day-to-day park operations.

Reilly also framed the move as a homecoming of sorts. Six Flags got its start in Arlington more than six decades ago with the opening of Six Flags Over Texas, and the city has been in the spotlight recently after Six Flags Over Texas debuted Tormenta: Rampaging Run this summer.

“That kind of alignment matters as we execute our long-term strategy,” Reilly said, adding that the move is about efficiency rather than location for its own sake.

What does this mean for Charlotte?

Six Flags said it isn’t going anywhere as an employer in the Queen City. The company will keep investing in its Carowinds and Carolina Harbor properties, including Carowinds’ new attraction, Rip Roarin’ Falls, which is still on track to open in 2027. Six Flags will also continue operating an office in Sandusky, Ohio.

Six Flags operates 34 parks and nine resorts across North America, according to the company, including amusement parks, water parks and resort properties in the U.S., Canada, Mexico and Saudi Arabia.

What it means for Charlotte employees

The move will affect all 114 Six Flags team members currently based in Charlotte, along with select roles outside the city, according to the company. Six Flags said it plans to bring about 100 positions to Arlington, meaning not every Charlotte-based or shared-services employee will be offered a spot there.

“We approached this decision with great care and consideration,” the company said. “Employment offers and transition arrangements will be determined on an individual basis, taking into account role responsibilities and business needs.”

Employees whose positions are moving to Arlington will get employment offers and relocation assistance, the company said, while those who are not offered a position will receive outplacement benefits. Six Flags said it is still finalizing its organizational design.

Six Flags, WCNC Charlotte Six Flags Entertainment Corporation is packing up its corporate headquarters and heading back to…

[13
150,152,151,26446,144975,11931,64281,27,145119
post-416588","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-arlington","tag-arlington","tag-arlington-headlines","tag-arlington-news","tag-corporate-headquarters","tag-john-reilly","tag-six-flags","tag-six-flags-over-texas","tag-texas","tag-wcnc-charlotte
["GET
