Quilters\u2019 Guild of Arlington<\/a> has unveiled a large-scale commemorative quilt honoring the city\u2019s history and the guild\u2019s legacy of service. The quilt, titled \u201cStitching Our History Together,\u201d reflects more than four decades of craftsmanship and community commitment from guild members.<\/p>\nMeasuring 96 by 108 inches, the quilt features more than 100 star blocks created by 65 guild members and represents more than 150 hours of design, construction and quilting. The piece highlights key Arlington landmarks in two panels, one depicting the Entertainment District and the other showcasing Downtown Arlington.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis quilt is not only a tribute to Arlington\u2019s past but a reminder of the role quilters play in strengthening community ties,\u201d said Will Womack, membership chair and coordinator and designer of the commemorative project. \u201cAs Arlington looks toward its next 150 years, our guild will continue its work promoting creativity, preserving tradition and supporting residents in need.\u201d<\/p>\n
The quilt will be on display during the Arlington Museum of Art’s “Arlington 150: Stories of a Legacy” exhibition, which is scheduled for Oct. 17, 2026 to Feb. 28, 2027. After the exhibition ends, the quilt will be permanently displayed inside City Hall.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Quilters\u2019 Guild of Arlington began in the early 1980s when quilting instructors taught classes at the Fielder Museum. The guild formally organized in August 1984 with 35 charter members and has maintained a mission focused on preserving and encouraging quilting through education, community involvement and service.<\/p>\n
The commemorative quilt was featured at the North Texas Quilt Festival in late July where it earned second place in the group category and received the Spirit of Arlington Award of Merit for outstanding creativity. The honors recognize both the skill involved in the quilt\u2019s creation and its celebration of Arlington\u2019s heritage.<\/p>\n
