Texas Headhunters Unveil New Single \u2018Big Shot\u2019<\/p>\n

Just when you thought your speakers were safe, Texas Headhunters are back with \u201cBigshot,\u201d the latest single from their forthcoming album Rise & Shine, due October 9 via Hardcharger \/ Blue \u00c9lan Records<\/p>\n

If the band\u2019s acclaimed debut introduced the world to the dangerous chemistry between Ian Moore, Johnny Moeller, and Jesse Dayton, \u201cBigshot\u201d proves they weren\u2019t just warming up. It\u2019s swaggering, hypnotic, riff-heavy and impossible to ignore\u2014the kind of song that makes you instinctively reach for the volume knob\u2026 to turn it up to eleven.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s face it: there are plenty of guitar players keeping the blues alive. Texas Headhunters are more interested in setting it on fire.<\/p>\n

For more than three decades, Moore, Moeller and Dayton have each carved out distinctive careers spanning blues, rock, country and Americana. Together, they\u2019re less a supergroup than a friendly six-string cage match, where everyone wins\u2014especially the audience.<\/p>\n

Written by Ian Moore, \u201cBigshot\u201d stomps in on a Bo Diddley-inspired groove before exploding into a tribal, fuzz-soaked workout fueled by Moore, Dayton\u2019s and Moeller\u2019s unmistakable guitar work and Moore\u2019s larger-than-life storytelling.<\/p>\n

\u201cI like telling stories,\u201d Moore says. \u201cI was driving with my wife and saw an overpass that said, \u2018Big Shot Cyrus James.\u2019 It sparked this character in my head\u2014a New Orleans guy, kind of like a Mardi Gras Indian. Whenever somebody asks his name, he just says, \u2018I\u2019m a big shot.\u2019 There\u2019s a little Bo Diddley and Johnny \u2018Guitar\u2019 Watson in there.\u201d<\/p>\n

He adds with a laugh, \u201cPeople ask how we know the songs are good. It\u2019s because we all really trust each other\u2019s taste. That gives me confidence in the material.\u201d<\/p>\n

Since releasing their debut last summer, Texas Headhunters<\/a> have become one of the most talked-about guitar bands in roots music. SiriusXM simultaneously spun three of the band\u2019s tracks across Outlaw Country, Bluesville, and Little Steven\u2019s Underground Garage, where they also earned the coveted \u201cCoolest Song in the World\u201d honor.<\/p>\n
