SAN ANTONIO \u2014 A San Antonio man is accused of posting threats against police, judges, lawyers and city officials on Facebook amid growing debate over the city’s budget deficit and a possible property tax increase.<\/p>\n
According to an arrest report, investigators identified the suspect as Timothy Alejos after reviewing social media posts and obtaining information from Facebook. Alejos is now accused of making a terroristic threat. <\/p>\n
Investigators said the comments appeared on Facebook posts discussing San Antonio’s projected $158 million budget deficit and proposals for the city’s fiscal year 2027 budget.<\/p>\n
One of the posts, published Aug. 14 by KSAT, discussed a possible property tax increase and proposed cuts to city positions.<\/p>\n
According to the arrest report, Alejos responded to the post by writing, “I don’t car[e] who is protected or who is on the chopping block, if I see any city officials doing better than the average person, the[y] will be dealt with, and definitely not on a ballot.”<\/p>\n
The comment included a water gun emoji.<\/p>\n
Police said another comment appeared that same day under a Facebook post by Citizen Veteran Journalists of Bexar County that criticized city spending.<\/p>\n
According to the affidavit, Alejos wrote, “F@#$ that,” followed by emojis, before adding, “gonna start taking out cops, judges and lawyers, then city officials.”<\/p>\n
That comment also included a water gun emoji.<\/p>\n
Investigators said they contacted Facebook for information connected to the account and used other records to identify Alejos as the person controlling the profile. Police said the posts prompted the department to increase security measures to protect elected officials.<\/p>\n
