SAN ANTONIO \u2014 A multi-agency law enforcement operation on the Far West Side led to a vehicle pursuit, a crash near Lackland Air Force Base, and an active search for a wanted suspect on Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n
At approximately 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, DPS Troopers were assisting the DPS Criminal Investigations Division and the FBI in attempting to apprehend a 18-year-old man wanted on multiple state and federal felony warrants related to drug and firearm offenses.<\/p>\n
When a DPS Trooper attempted a traffic stop near Potranco Road and Loop 1604, the driver failed to stop, initiating a pursuit that continued onto eastbound U.S. Highway 90. During the chase, the suspect vehicle struck another vehicle, lost control, and hit a perimeter fence at Lackland Air Force Base.<\/p>\n
The suspect fled on foot and entered a bystander\u2019s vehicle, which stopped a short time later near U.S. Highway 90 and IH-410. The suspect then fled on foot once again.<\/p>\n
No injuries were reported, including from the occupant of the vehicle struck during the pursuit.<\/p>\n
Due to the nearby police activity, Mary Burns Michael Elementary School, Fisher Elementary School, and IDEA Ambrose & Freda Robinson were temporarily placed in “Secure” status as a precaution. Under standard protocol, exterior doors were locked while inside activities continued. The Secure status has since been lifted.<\/p>\n
Multiple law enforcement agencies remain in the area actively searching for the suspect, who has not been located.
