{"id":417799,"date":"2026-08-27T01:30:14","date_gmt":"2026-08-27T01:30:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/417799\/"},"modified":"2026-08-27T01:30:14","modified_gmt":"2026-08-27T01:30:14","slug":"victor-yanez-back-in-court-after-july-mistrial-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/417799\/","title":{"rendered":"Victor Yanez back in court after July mistrial"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\">LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) &#8211; A Lubbock man accused of murder is back in the Lubbock County courthouse for a retrial after a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kcbd.com\/2026\/07\/29\/judge-declares-mistrial-lubbock-murder-trial-over-late-video-evidence\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.kcbd.com\/2026\/07\/29\/judge-declares-mistrial-lubbock-murder-trial-over-late-video-evidence\/\">mistrial was declared last month<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Arguments are underway in the retrial of Victor Yanez.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Yanez is accused of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kcbd.com\/2025\/04\/16\/victor-yanez-custody-with-connection-shooting-death-joshua-rios\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.kcbd.com\/2025\/04\/16\/victor-yanez-custody-with-connection-shooting-death-joshua-rios\/\">shooting and killing 38-year-old Joshua Rios<\/a> on Clovis Road in April of 2025.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Yanez turned himself in three days after the shooting.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Last month, Judge William Eichman granted the defense\u2019s motion for a mistrial after attorneys for Yanez said they did not have enough time to review police videos prosecutors presented as evidence.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 KCBD.
