“It definitely takes a lot of hard work,” Adegoke said. “We’ve come through a lot of roadblocks.”

She said she understands that students have to prioritize their academics first.

“Just give us what you have, and we’ll make the most of it,” Adegoke said.

“I like to describe us as a bunch of signing nerds, plus a few deaf students on campus,” said Raina Collier, volunteer coordinator for the club.

The organization aims to promote sign language and Deaf culture to those who may not be aware of the culture, Collier said.

“We have deaf students on campus who come and practice our signs with us because all of our officers are hearing,” she said.

Psychology senior Rual Zaldivar said during his first year at the university, the activity fair introduced him to campus prayer groups.

There are a variety of groups for students to find their place, Zaldivar said.

“It’s a commuter school so many people just come and go,” he said. “But for those who want a sense of community and just want to be able to find that community, this activity fair is perfect for them.”
