\u201cIt\u2019s fun to see people that you saw at a meeting last week in the hallway. It\u2019s great to see somebody in the restaurant at lunch that you\u2019ve been needing to talk to, but you haven\u2019t quite had a chance to do that,\u201d Daniel said. \u201cGreat ecosystem here. Great opportunities for us to talk with people who are doing parallel things to what we\u2019re doing.\u201d<\/p>\n
The office will hold about 20 full-time employees, and Daniel, who joined NYSE Texas by way of the Texas Workforce Commission, sees the office as evidence of the roots the exchange is planting in the community. Outreach to the local business community and North Texas community at large is already underway through local chambers of commerce, civic groups and North Texas’ many universities.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cTexas got to where it is by ensuring that these communities were cohesive and taken care of, and we want to be a part of that, and we\u2019ll do our part to make sure that happens,\u201d Daniel said. \u201cWe intend to be a long-term part of this community.\u201d<\/p>\n
The office is also intended to be just as much an extension of the New York Stock Exchange\u2019s network of offices and how the parent exchange serves its listed companies as it is a corporate headquarters for NYSE Texas. NYSE Group president Lynn Martin said a company that is \u201cnot yet\u201d listed on NYSE Texas but listed on NYSE is holding an investor day in the new space to connect with capital in the state.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cThis space is designed for them (the listed companies). If it\u2019s their investor base they want to reach, great. They want to have a board meeting here, we\u2019re happy to host that for them. Their success is our success,\u201d Daniel said. \u201cA lot of what you see looks like event space because it will be used as event space for our listed companies. We actually started scheduling both board meetings and investor days before the staff was actually in here. The demand is great, and our listed companies have been very excited that we\u2019re getting this office online and operational.\u201d<\/p>\n

The top-floor office has skyline views of Dallas and luxurious touches throughout. Modern chandeliers hang from the ceiling, a conference table sports a marble top, even the forks provided to eat the event\u2019s charcuterie spread appear to be real silver.\u00a0Daniel said NYSE Texas commissioned local artists to fill the space, alongside pieces of market history, like the old stock certificates that hang on the walls. Rooms are named to honor the Texas economy, like the \u201cBonds and Barrels\u201d and \u201cCattle and Cotton\u201d conference rooms, and one hallway features what NYSE Texas calls \u201cLone Star Legends,\u201d a sampling of influential Texans from past and present, including Abbott, Jones, Michael Dell, Herb\u00a0Kelleher, Mary Kay Ash, Sam Houston, Stephen F. Austin and others.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Though ample in form, NYSE Texas’ office is not lacking in function. The space features a large, state-of-the-art broadcast studio and a main space covered entirely on one side in screens for high-tech presentations like the bell-ringing ceremony.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Abbott in remarks at the ceremony. \u201cWe are future-proofing our state to ensure that we will be a long-lasting legacy for any business that wants to operate here. We put into our Constitution a ban on an income tax in the state of Texas. We put in our Constitution a ban on a death tax in the state of Texas. We are slashing property taxes right and left, and we are going to make sure that we pass even more laws that are favorable to businesses, so that more will come here, more will locate their incorporation here, more will locate their listing right here in the Lone Star State.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

NYSE Texas has been operational for more than a year and last summer celebrated its launch with a glitzy bell ringing ceremony at AT&T Stadium<\/a>. Though not the first to announce \u2014 the Texas Stock Exchange holds that honor \u2014 NYSE Texas was the first listings venue in the state to become operational, with now more than 100 dual listings from major companies like AT&T and Fifth Third Bank. The field is more crowded now, though, with Nasdaq Texas becoming operational earlier this year and the Texas Stock Exchange launching its trading platform last month, all with their own bell-ringing ceremonies.\u00a0<\/p>\nMartin emphasized that NYSE Texas is still getting started with room to grow through primary listings, capital raising and still more dual listings.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere are 4,600 or so listed companies in the world, and we\u2019re only at 121, so there\u2019s tons of opportunity\u2026 we\u2019re in the process of pursuing,\u201d Martin said. \u201cBecause of our technology and because of our expertise in operating markets with state-of-the-art technology, we know how to do this better than anyone.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Gov.
