{"id":419845,"date":"2026-08-29T03:28:09","date_gmt":"2026-08-29T03:28:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/419845\/"},"modified":"2026-08-29T03:28:09","modified_gmt":"2026-08-29T03:28:09","slug":"thousands-without-power-as-abrupt-storms-spark-cps-energy-outages","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/419845\/","title":{"rendered":"Thousands without power as abrupt storms spark CPS Energy outages"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Thousands of CPS Energy customers in San Antonio are without power as storms moved through the area Friday night.<\/p>\n<p>A CPS Energy <a href=\"https:\/\/outagemap.cpsenergy.com\/?c=External%20Visibility&amp;o=option-81f76a84-c4ec-4890-98fa-12da82c9fd2c\" data-link=\"native\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">outage map<\/a> shows that 95,071 customers are currently without power due to 352 active outages as of 9:15 p.m.\u00a0 Among the ZIP codes hardest hit is 78233 with more 9,000 residents affected.<\/p>\n<p>The outages come as severe storms move through the San Antonio area Friday night, bringing heavy rain, lightning and gusty winds.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The National Weather Service also issued a Flash Flood Warning until 12:15 a.m.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DcmzK3aDhBa\/?igsi=MTFhdjZhaHRtbTA3OQ%3D%3D\" data-link=\"native\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">In a social media post<\/a>, school district officials announced that it had canceled the Southwest High School football game because of the weather.
