{"id":420355,"date":"2026-08-29T16:00:56","date_gmt":"2026-08-29T16:00:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/420355\/"},"modified":"2026-08-29T16:00:56","modified_gmt":"2026-08-29T16:00:56","slug":"eppd-speeding-driver-died-in-east-el-paso-crash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/420355\/","title":{"rendered":"EPPD: Speeding driver died in East El Paso crash"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">EL PASO, Texas (<a data-ylk=\"slk:KTSM;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;link&quot;,&quot;yLinkElementType&quot;:&quot;article_link&quot;}\" href=\"http:\/\/ktsm.com\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">KTSM<\/a>) &#8212; A 68-year-old man is dead following a multi-vehicle crash in East El Paso last month, according to the El Paso Police Department on Tuesday, Aug. 25.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">As KTSM previously reported, six people were hurt, including two seriously injured, after a crash involving a rollover on Tuesday, July 14, at the intersection of Montwood Drive and Joe Battle.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><a data-ylk=\"slk:Multi-vehicle crash leaves 2 people seriously injured in East El Paso;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;link&quot;,&quot;yLinkElementType&quot;:&quot;article_link&quot;}\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ktsm.com\/local\/el-paso-news\/6-people-hurt-after-multi-vehicle-crash-in-east-el-paso\/?ipid=promo-link-block1\" class=\"promo-link__link\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">\u00a0Multi-vehicle crash leaves 2 people seriously injured in East El Paso\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2019 Ford Ranger was traveling northbound on Joe Battle and attempted to make a right turn onto Montwood &#8220;at a high rate of speed.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The vehicle failed to negotiate the turn and hit the raised median, crashing into a 2019 Honda Ridgeline that was traveling east on Montwood, according to EPPD.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Both vehicles crossed into the westbound lanes and struck a 2016 Chevy Silverado, a 2009 Honda Ridgeline and a 2007 Jeep Wrangler, which were stopped at a red light at the intersection.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The drivers and passengers of the Ford Ranger (2), the 2019 Honda Ridgeline (2) and the driver of the 2009 Honda Ridgeline were transported to a hospital.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">According to EPPD, Animal Control was called to remove a dead dog from the 2019 Honda Ridgeline.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">On Monday, Aug. 24, investigators received information from the Medical Examiner&#8217;s Office that the driver of the Ford Ranger, identified as Glen Archer of Horizon, died as a result of the crash.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">This is the 38th traffic fatality, compared to 40 at this time in 2025.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Copyright 2026 Nexstar Media, Inc.
