It downed trees and power lines, leaving thousands of residents without electricity. Businesses across the city have announced closures on social media as they assess damage and begin cleaning up.<\/p>\n<p>Before heading out to your favorite restaurant today, try checking their websites to make sure they are open. CPS Energy has said it may take several days before power is restored to some areas.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Cove, a restaurant in Five Points known for its locally-sourced ingredients, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/thecovesa\/?hl=en\" data-link=\"native\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">announced on Instagram<\/a> that it would remain closed \u201cuntil further notice.\u201d The restaurant said it was still without power and that many of its signs were \u201cliving their best lives around San Antonio.\u201d Photos showed large sections of the restaurant\u2019s patio fencing ripped out and scattered across the ground.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Pico de Gallo in the Historic Market Square <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/picodegallosa\/?hl=en\" data-link=\"native\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">similarly announced<\/a> on Instagram it was without power and would be closed Saturday. Fat Tummy\u2019s\u00a0Empanadas on West\u00a0Commerce Street also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/Fattummyempanadas\/posts\/-temporarily-closed-power-outage-unfortunately-due-to-last-nights-storm-fat-tumm\/1728916519242082\/\" data-link=\"native\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">posted on Facebook<\/a> that it was closed due to a power outage.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNot only are we closed but all the food is currently being thrown out,\u201d Gilberts owner Ashley Herrera wrote on Facebook. \u201cWe are definitely going to need your help, San Antonio, when the power is restored.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Panifico Bakeshop, a panaderia near Navarro Park, also was without power and will be closed Saturday, according to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/Dcn4E4RRCsY\/?igsi=OHdxZ3gyajhwYWhu\" data-link=\"native\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">an Instagram post.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Silhouette Coffee posted an Instagram story featuring a photo of the CPS outage map, writing the situation was \u201cnot looking good\u201d and that the business would close Saturday unless \u201cthings magically come back on.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In a post on X, Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones said the Bazan, Las Palmas and San Pedro libraries were without power. The three branches are the only public library locations not currently serving as cooling centers for residents without air conditioning, and Jones said she will provide updates when they reopen.<\/p>\n<p>University Health\u2019s downtown Robert B. Green Campus also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/UniversityHealthSA\" data-link=\"native\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">delayed all operations<\/a> until its power restores, according to a Facebook post.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The city&#8217;s Animal Care Services was also without power and pleading for the public&#8217;s help to temporarily foster cats and dogs. Since the facility is without a phone, they were asking those interested in fostering to drop by the campus at 4710 Texas 151. They were worried about the animals since the kennels are without airconditioning.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Morgan\u2019s Wonderland, the theme park in Northeast San Antonio, posted that it <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DcoEyrjku57\/\" data-link=\"native\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">will be closed on Saturday<\/a> as a result of the storm.<\/p>\n<p>Santikos Entertainment similarly said in an Instagram post that it is closed due to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/mysantikos\/posts\/our-galaxy-theater-is-temporarily-closed-on-saturday-aug-29-as-we-work-to-restor\/1467349028762590\/\" data-link=\"native\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a power outage<\/a>.
