<\/p>\n Ruston, La. – Houston Christian volleyball was back in Ruston today at the Jambalaya Jam, this time for a matchup against the hosting Bulldogs. After securing an early 2-0 set lead, the Huskies fell to a strong LA Tech rally that won the game in five sets.\u00a0 In a very closely contested\u00a0first\u00a0set, both teams went back and forth scoring points. Finding themselves in an 18-18 tie, the Huskies rallied to put themselves up 23-20, ultimately\u00a0allowing the Huskies to\u00a0capitalize and take the first set 25-23. In the second set, HCU took an early 9-4\u00a0lead. Using the momentum, the Huskies fought off an LA Tech comeback to win the set 25-21.\u00a0The third set was also closely contested, including multiple lead changes, though\u00a0it\u00a0ended with a 25-23 Bulldog win.\u00a0With the Huskies up 5-2 early in the fourth set, LA Tech battled back\u00a0in yet another back-and-forth set that\u00a0went the distance, ending in a 30-28\u00a0Bulldog win, setting\u00a0up a fifth set.\u00a0Almost halfway through the fifth set, the Huskies earned a small 6-4 lead\u00a0but came up short in fending off a final\u00a0rally from LA Tech, sealing the match in a 3-2 victory for the Bulldogs.\u00a0<\/p>\n
HCU will play its last game of the Jambalaya Jam tomorrow, Sunday, Aug. 30, against Iona at 11 am and will look to earn their first win of the 2026 season.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"

\nOffensively, HCU was led by senior Sa’Myah Medford<\/a>, who put up 18 kills and 45 attacks, and junior Katy Barger<\/a>, with 16 kills and 50 attacks. Ensilina Savelio<\/a> accomplished another double-double,\u00a0putting up 48 assists and 17 digs. On the defensive end, Bianca Byerly<\/a> led the Huskies with 27 digs,\u00a0while also tacking on seven assists.\u00a0
