A local Plano bookstore is planning to relocate to a larger space in mid-October, store Owner Chelsea Tresp said.

A new chapter

Bibliobar is upgrading its space from a roughly 900 square-foot space to a new 2,000 square-foot building in downtown Plano, Tresp said.

While the book store has always offered a wide range of books for general audiences, Tresp said the new location will have more romantasy options because of high demand and a designated kids section.

“A book store is definitely like a third space, or it should be,” Tresp said. “We have a lot of people who come in and want to hang out.”

The new space will have an area for people to host book clubs, hang out with friends or work on crafts, Tresp said.

Staying local

Bibliobar started as a pop-up shop in 2017 before its first location in 2023. Its current location has been open since March 2025.

Tresp said she picks books written by less-known authors to sell at her store, including some authors with local ties. She said while she likes books from larger authors, they are often sold at grocery stores at a discounted price.

“I have a lot of people that come in and go, ‘I don’t recognize any of these books’. Which I think is good because it is important to find new voices,” Tresp said.

Tresp said the books at her store also lean toward social justice, and she sells a large selection of LGBTQ+ books. The store’s selection may also change based on the time of year, she said. This fall, she plans to have books about the literacy crisis as well as horror related books in preparation for October.

“[The selections are] very ‘books about books’ this year,” Tresp said.

In other news

Tresp is keeping the space where Bibliobar is currently located, she said, but it will run as a new business.

“What is now a bookshelf will be a rack that people can rent out,” she said.

Community members can rent out space for different things like to sell merchandise for a small business, clean out closet space or sell sourced vintage items, Tresp said.

She said the new book store location is aimed to open the first week of October, while the new business will likely open the week after. Tresp said interested community members can also sign up to volunteer for help with the bookstore’s move online.

“Do you know how to build a Billy bookcase from IKEA? Today’s the day,” Tresp said.

A local Plano bookstore is planning to relocate to a larger space in mid-October, store Owner Chelsea Tresp…

[15
145212,146974,146973,713,146971,146970,146972,160,16524,162,161
post-422271","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-plano","tag-bibliobar","tag-book-store-near-me","tag-book-stores","tag-downtown-plano","tag-independent-bookstore-near-me","tag-independent-bookstores-dfw","tag-new-bibliobar-location","tag-plano","tag-plano-bookstores","tag-plano-headlines","tag-plano-news
["GET
