The team is considering cutting ties with Victory+ and broadcasting games on Amazon Prime Video for the 2026-27 season, a person familiar with the discussion told The Dallas Morning News on Monday.

The move would follow similar decisions by the Texas Rangers and Anaheim Ducks to leave Victory+ in July amid growing concerns about the viability and financial solvency of the platform. The Rangers moved Rangers Sports Network-produced games to BZZR, a new streaming platform for which one of the team’s minority owners, Neil Leibman, is a partner.

The Stars became the flagship partner of Victory+ when the team signed a seven-year agreement with its parent company, A Parent Media Co. Inc., in July 2024 to become the first major professional sports team to stream all of its games directly to fans for free through an ad-supported model.

Spokespeople for the Dallas Stars and the NHL declined to comment.

The expectation is that Stars games would no longer be free to watch on Amazon. A Prime Video subscription costs $8.99 per month for a standalone subscription with ads. It is also included at no extra cost with a full Amazon Prime Membership, which costs $14.99 per month or $139 annually.

The Stars would join the Seattle Kraken, which moved games to Prime Video ahead of the 2024-25 season.

The NHL and Prime Video reached an agreement in July for the platform to exclusively broadcast Wednesday night regular-season national NHL games in English and French in Canada beginning this season. Amazon Prime also produced two seasons of the series “FACEOFF: Inside the NHL,” which gives a behind-the-scenes look into the lives of several NHL players.

The future of Victory+ remains uncertain. The Stars’ departure would be consequential, as the team holds equity in the platform.

Victory+ has also streamed games for the St. Louis Blues, National Women’s Soccer League, University Interscholastic League, Minnesota Lynx, Atlanta Dream and Western Hockey League.

Spokespeople for A Parent Media Co. and Amazon Prime Video didn’t immediately respond to The News’ requests for comment.

The team is considering cutting ties with Victory+ and broadcasting games on Amazon Prime Video for the 2026-27…

[9
732,102,104,103,90780
post-422593","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-dallas","tag-article","tag-dallas","tag-dallas-headlines","tag-dallas-news","tag-tp-nhl-playoffs
["GET
