The former Dallas Cowboys running back is getting a chance at redemption by joining a top rival of the team that waived him over the weekend. <\/p>\n

One of the biggest surprises emerging from the Dallas Cowboys\u2019 initial 53-man roster was the absence of running back Jaydon Blue<\/a>. A second-year, former fifth-round pick, Blue appeared to be on his way to be a part of the Cowboys depth chart. <\/p>\n

Instead, he was waived by the Cowboys on Sunday. And it kept getting progressively worse for a while. He cleared waivers on Monday, meaning none of the 31 teams put in a claim to get him. Later, Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer suggested he wouldn\u2019t look into bringing him back to the practice squad. <\/p>\n

But Blue is getting a chance to bounce back. And in the process, he might get some revenge on the Cowboys. <\/p>\n

That\u2019s right, it\u2019s the division-rival Philadelphia Eagles who ended up getting Jaydon Blue. According to ESPN\u2019s Adam Schefter<\/a>, the Eagles are signing Blue to their practice squad. There, Blue will join a crowded running back room featuring Saquon Barkley, Tank Bigsby, and Will Shipley. <\/p>\n

But before Blue even daydreams about a promotion (or temporary elevation) to the gameday roster, he needs to win a battle he hasn\u2019t yet: a battle with the man in the mirror. <\/p>\n

Blue\u2019s career with the Cowboys got off on the wrong foot largely because of trust issues and inconsistency problems rather than on-field performance. In his rookie offseason, a former Cowboys coach called Blue \u201cborderline lazy\u201d in what was described at the time as rumors. Blue went on to be a healthy scratch for the majority of the year. <\/p>\n

Following the Cowboys\u2019 decision to waive Blue over the weekend, The Athletic\u2019s Dane Brugler posted on social media<\/a>: \u201cBlue had well-known football character concerns coming out of Texas. Cowboys bet on the talent in the 5th round but it wasn\u2019t enough.\u201d<\/p>\n

Now, the Eagles are giving Blue a chance at redemption. Philadelphia\u2019s GM Howie Roseman is no stranger for betting on players with high upside like him, but there\u2019s no guarantee it will translate into anything else. <\/p>\n

That\u2019s up to Blue and Blue alone. If things go well, he might just get a chance to play his former team in the near future. <\/p>\n
