{"id":423597,"date":"2026-09-02T04:50:54","date_gmt":"2026-09-02T04:50:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/423597\/"},"modified":"2026-09-02T04:50:54","modified_gmt":"2026-09-02T04:50:54","slug":"dallas-voters-will-see-a-400m-public-safety-bond-on-nov-3-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/423597\/","title":{"rendered":"Dallas voters will see a $400M+ public safety bond on Nov. 3"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/oakcliff.advocatemag.com\/2026\/09\/dallas-voters-will-see-a-400m-public-safety-bond-on-nov-3\/ballot-box-and-blank-paper-studio-shot\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-92080 nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-92080\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/1788324654_820_BallotBoxHC1611_source-scaled-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2048\" height=\"1927\"  \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Dallas voters will see a new bond proposal on the Nov. 3 ballot that focuses on public safety.<\/p>\n<p>The bond, which Dallas City Council approved in an 11-4 vote Wednesday, Aug. 12, includes more than $400 million for public safety upgrades across the city, including $82 million for a new Law Enforcement Training Center (LETC) at the University of North Texas at Dallas.<\/p>\n<p>Voters initially approved $50 million for the construction of the LETC as part of the city\u2019s 2024 bond package.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the bond calls for $170 million for a Public Safety Training Complex (PSTC) at Dallas Executive Airport, $40 million to relocate the existing emergency operations center and 911 facility, $17 million for the demolition and replacement of the existing Fleet Maintenance Facility at the Southeast Service Center, and $150 million to co-locate the Dallas Police Department Property Room, Crime Scene and Evidentiary Vehicle Storage.<\/p>\n<p>The bond also requests $22 million for the replacement of Fire Station No. 4 at Akard and Canton streets. Fire Station No. 4 is among Dallas Fire-Rescue\u2019s highest-priority stations for replacement. The station was built in 1884 and rebuilt in 1953.<\/p>\n<p>The total bond is a reduced amount from the City Manager\u2019s recommended $960 million bond.
