However, some folks’ behavior can make it an irritating, or at least eye-rolling, experience. Locals recently listed their biggest peeves on LBK Scanner Squad (a must-follow page in my opinion). And if you are guilty of any of these things, don’t sweat it- we’ve all been annoying on social media at one point or another.

Read More: These Were Some of Lubbock’s Most Popular First Jobs

Posting “Pray for Me” and Refusing to Say What Happened

This one doesn’t bother me that much, but I do get that it feels attention-seeking, or if it’s someone you care about, it could be unnecessarily upsetting, or worse, something you should very much worry about. Also known as “vague-booking,” it incites curiousity and/ or alarm without providing any answers. In the age of the internet, we want to know all the details immediately.

Read More: How To Handle A Bad Meal At Lubbock Restaurants

Turning Facebook Into Your Personal Diary

This is the opposite extreme of vague-booking- giving entirely too much information, particularly if it’s awkward/ messy or very mundane stuff that we don’t want to know. And please do not film yourself crying. Not everything needs to be public, particularly…

Airing Out Baby Daddy, Baby Mama and Relationship Drama

Oof. Not only is this distasteful, but it can also be used against you if you ever have to go to court over it. I briefly worked in a family law office, and the experience taught me that people are at their absolute worst during these times- no need to tell the world about it and make yourself look terrible in the process.

The “Facebook Relationship Status: It’s Complicated” Crowd

This one made me chuckle. Again, it’s the icky overdisclosure that people don’t like. Or they do like it, but in a gossipy way.

Asking Google Questions You Could Have Googled

YOU ARE ON YOUR PHONE. Or on your computer. This is how our surrounding areas compare to Lubbock crime rates, according to crimegrade.org, which looks at both property and violent crime in its rankings.
