An East Texas manufacturing plant is preparing to shut down production indefinitely, putting about 150 workers out of their jobs.

Louisiana-Pacific Corp., also known as LP Building Solutions, notified the Texas Workforce Commission that it will “indefinitely” curtail production at its oriented strand board mill at 5110 U.S. Highway 190 East in Jasper. Oriented strand board, commonly called OSB, is an engineered wood panel widely used in home construction for walls, roofs and flooring.

The cuts are expected to take effect Nov. 1, according to the WARN notice filed Sept. 1. The affected employees include 80 production workers, 34 maintenance and electrical workers, 30 salaried or management employees and six technical workers, according to the notice. None are represented by a union.

LP said in a news release that it will suspend OSB production at the Jasper facility beginning in October because of soft demand. The company said the mill has an annual production capacity of about 475 million square feet on a 3/8-inch basis.

“Current market conditions require us to align OSB production with demand,” LP CEO Jason Ringblom said in the release. “While the near-term environment for OSB remains challenging, we are confident in LP’s strategy and our ability to create long-term value. Taking action now allows us to operate efficiently through the cycle while maintaining the flexibility to respond as market conditions improve.”

“This decision is not a reflection of the performance or commitment of the Jasper team, whose contributions have helped strengthen LP for many years,” Ringblom said.

The WARN notice states employees will receive 60 days of working notice and/or pay and continued benefits through Nov. 1. Some employees may be asked to stay on for transition work, according to the filing.

LP said it will provide job search and career transition support and help employees identify and apply for open positions at other LP facilities. The company said it will continue evaluating market conditions and could restart curtailed capacity “when warranted.”

The announcement comes as Texas continues to see a steady stream of WARN notices. Chron previously reported nearly 30,000 Texans were affected by layoffs during the first half of 2026, giving Texas the second-highest layoff total in the country at the time.
