Organizers said last year’s Music Walk drew more than 1,200 visitors from outside the area, defined as people who traveled at least 50 miles.

One Sound

The event also highlighted Corpus Christi’s local music education community.

At First United Methodist Church, “One Sound” brought together college students and faculty members for a chamber music performance featuring a string quartet.

Violinist Gideon Perkins said performers represented Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, Texas A&M University-Kingsville and Del Mar College.

“We have representation from everywhere, and that’s the representation of what this is all about,” Perkins said. “This is one sound, one community coming together.”

Music Walk and First Friday Art Walk are both part of the effort to showcase downtown Corpus Christi while giving local artists, businesses and performers a chance to connect with thousands of visitors.

While the street performances ended Friday night, live music continues at several downtown venues throughout the weekend.

House of Rock is also scheduled to host the Golden Mic Showcase featuring 13 local musicians Saturday beginning at 2 p.m.

RELATED: New ‘Golden Mic program’ aims to keep and grow musical talent in South Texas

Downtown Corpus Christi turned into a massive outdoor concert Friday night as the fourth annual Music Walk brought…

[14
2534,155,157,156,20369,9755,46593,148499,12141,114410,13650,148494,148495,148145,12127,148498,148497,3813,7618,148493,148496
post-426923","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-corpus-christi","tag-corpus","tag-corpus-christi","tag-corpus-christi-headlines","tag-corpus-christi-news","tag-first","tag-first-united-methodist-church","tag-friday-night","tag-gus","tag-hawkins","tag-house-of-rock","tag-its","tag-lain","tag-medrano","tag-music-walk","tag-one","tag-one-day","tag-perkins","tag-september","tag-texas-am-university-corpus-christi","tag-texas-am-university-kingsville","tag-texas-music-friendly-city
["GET
