A new state filing describes the project as the &#8220;Mustang Ridge Distribution Center,&#8221; built out of existing office and warehouse space Tesla is leasing. The facility is set to start construction in December and will cover 538,720 square feet. Estimated costs are $1.44 million, and Houston-based Clay Development and Construction is listed as the designer. The site sits off U.S. 183, about 12 miles south of Tesla&#8217;s Austin headquarters. Tesla has also filed more work across Gigafactory Texas, including projects tied to Terafab and a semiconductor facility in rural Grimes County. Elon Musk said Tesla&#8217;s headcount could top 30,000 in the Austin area by 2028.
