The Dallas Housing Coalition is gearing up for its second annual summit, promising to bring together stakeholders and community advocates to engage with one another and tackle local issues on the housing front.<\/p>\n

Scheduled for Nov. 21 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., the event will be held at the University of North Texas at Dallas.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe anticipate hosting over 300 attendees, including Coalition members, sponsors, partners, speakers, elected officials, and media, to learn from experts and discuss this year\u2019s theme: Growth without Displacement,\u201d DHC said.<\/p>\n

No doubt the theme is timely. For years now, Dallas has been dealing with rising rents, limited housing supply, and new development putting pressure on legacy residents of limited means. While officials have been trying to deliver some relief for homeowners (particularly the elderly and people with disabilities) through increased homestead exemptions<\/a>, affordable housing options in the rental market have been too few and far between.<\/p>\n

Building on momentum from last year\u2019s inaugural event<\/a>, which drew more than 280 attendees, the 2025 summit aims to foster collaboration to expand access to safe and stable homes. Panel discussions will cover topics such as equitable development, neighborhood revitalization, land use regulations, architectural design, tenant rights, and preventing displacement.<\/p>\n

Two new components bookend the summit\u2019s main program. On Nov. 20, the coalition will host a Mixed-Income Housing Sites Bus Tour from 3 to 5 p.m., departing from its offices on Live Oak Street. The guided tour will showcase successful local projects, ranging from small-lot homes to senior communities and historic redevelopments.<\/p>\n

Rounding out the event is the inaugural Resident Housing Summit on Nov. 22, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church downtown. Open and free to the public, it invites residents and neighborhood leaders to learn about zoning, explore \u201cmissing middle\u201d housing types, and connect with resource providers such as the Dallas Eviction Advocacy Center and Housing Connector.<\/p>\n
