Property owners within Humble ISD<\/a>‘s boundaries can expect a flat tax rate for the upcoming fiscal year 2026-27.<\/p>\n

The details<\/p>\n

HISD trustees unanimously voted to adopt a tax rate of $1.1052 per $100 valuation for FY 2026-27 during the board\u2019s Sept. 8 meeting. The approved tax rate is the same as that approved<\/a> for FY 2025-26, and includes:<\/p>\n

$0.7552 for the local maintenance and operations fund, or M&O<\/p>\n

$0.3500 for debt service, bonded indebtedness and interest and sinking fund, or I&S<\/p>\n

Average home values within the district’s boundaries rose from roughly $346,000 last year to $348,300 this year, according to budget documents.<\/p>\n

While taxes due from individual residents depend on the value of their homes, the average tax bill within the district is projected to increase by roughly $28, rising from $2,342 last year to $2,370 this year, budget documents show<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Some context\u00a0<\/p>\n

The approved tax rate comes roughly three months after trustees approved<\/a> the district\u2019s budget for FY 2026-27 in June.<\/p>\n

At the district\u2019s June 9 meeting, HISD Chief Financial Officer Billy Beattie said the district is projected to spend roughly $559.4 million in its general fund budget, while taking in roughly $560.1 million in revenue.<\/p>\n

Highlights in the budget include more than 20 new special education positions and a 3% overall general pay increase for staff members, Beattie said.<\/p>\n
