The record was set September 3, 1939. It also was tied on the date in 2000.

KCBD(KCBD)

The extreme heat is part of a broader pattern keeping temperatures well above normal across the forecast area. Most areas will see temperatures climb above 100 degrees Friday as dangerous heat continues to grip the region.

KCBD(KCBD)

Isolated thunderstorms are possible Friday afternoon and early evening, with some storms capable of producing gusty winds and brief downpours. However, storm coverage is expected to remain scattered, with the highest chance near the Texas-New Mexico state line.

KCBD(KCBD)

Storms will quickly fade after sunset, leading to another quiet overnight period.

KCBD(KCBD)

Weekend and Beyond

Warmer than normal temperatures will continue through the weekend, though highs are expected to trend slightly lower compared to Friday. A few storms remain possible Saturday, but dry weather will otherwise dominate.

KCBD(KCBD)

Relief from the heat is expected next week as temperatures gradually moderate.

KCBD(KCBD)

Copyright 2026 KCBD.
