LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – The Community Health Center of Lubbock brought organizations together for its 34th annual needs assessment on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Groups representing education, pediatrics, dental and vision care compared notes on how to better serve Lubbock residents.<\/p>\n
Groups share resources and feedback<\/p>\n
Councilwoman Christy Martinez-Garcia said the event allows groups to share and learn about each other\u2019s work.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s a little bit of something for any of the groups,\u201d Martinez-Garcia said. \u201cBut this is where we get to, like I said, share, but also learn about what the other is doing. So, one, we don\u2019t overlap resources. And two, we can identify, well, this nonprofit is doing this and this one is doing that. And just get really good feedback that they then utilize and share with the others.\u201d<\/p>\n
The feedback is intended to improve healthcare access and pool resources.<\/p>\n
Helping people access transportation resources<\/p>\n
One of the topics discussed was transportation and how people can access resources, possibly through services like Citibus<\/a> or MyRide Lubbock<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd in a time where so many of our families are dealing with a very tough economy, it\u2019s a good connection so that when we have maybe that client, we can connect with them,\u201d Martinez-Garcia said. \u201cAnd also, just to see what needs that we are all experiencing and might be able to offer each other solutions, as well as provide more details about what we do.\u201d<\/p>\n Martinez-Garcia said she wants residents to recognize these nonprofits as advocates for the community.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t think people realize sometimes the frontline workers are a lot of our nonprofits in this community,\u201d Martinez-Garcia said. \u201cThey do so much. They answer the call to so many of the needs. They\u2019re ready to respond at any given moment.\u201d<\/p>\n Copyright 2026 KCBD.
