MANSFIELD, Texas (Sept. 9, 2026) \u2013\u00a010-man\u00a0Houston Dynamo 2\u00a0rallied with two goals in the span of ten minutes in second half stoppage time to earn a dramatic 3-2 comeback victory at North Texas SC earlier this evening. Attacker\u00a0Samir\u00a0Mohammad\u00a0played a key role in the comeback, contributing to both goals in the dying moments of the match.<\/p>\n
With tonight\u2019s result, Dynamo 2 set a single-season team record for points in a season with 51 points, surpassing the previous record of 49 points during the team’s inaugural season in 2022.<\/p>\n
Houston played the final 38 minutes with 10 men after forward\u00a0Arthur\u00a0Sousa\u00a0received his second yellow card of the match following a foul in the 52nd\u00a0minute mark.<\/p>\n
North Texas took the lead in the 14th\u00a0minute after Nicholas Simmonds converted from the penalty spot. The penalty was awarded after defensive midfielder\u00a0Vitor\u00a0Andr\u00e9\u00a0was deemed to have handled the ball while attempting to block a shot.<\/p>\n
Dynamo 2 leveled the match in the 30th\u00a0minute following a quick combination play between\u00a0Andr\u00e9, attacker\u00a0Mattheo\u00a0Dimareli\u00a0and Sousa. The play began with Andr\u00e9\u00a0intercepting\u00a0a pass from the hosts before pushing the ball forward and finding Dimareli, who quickly played Sousa through on goal. The FC Dallas\u00a0affiliate retook the lead in the 75th\u00a0minute when Edouard Nys found the back of the net with a right-footed strike from outside the box.<\/p>\n
Mohammad scored the equalizer for Houston in the first minute of second half stoppage time after faking out a defender to his left before cutting back to his right foot and finding the back of the net for his third goal of the season. Forward\u00a0Alan\u00a0Martins\u00a0earned the assist on the play, finding Mohammad in the center of the box for his first assist of the year.<\/p>\n
Ten minutes later, Mohammad was on the ball again, dribbling past the North Texas defender before delivering a low-driven cross to striker\u00a0Austin\u00a0Brummett\u00a0at the far post to complete the remarkable comeback, scoring the late stoppage-time match winner and his 11th\u00a0goal of the season.<\/p>\n
Dynamo 2 generated a dangerous chance in the eighth minute when Mohammad faked out a North Texas defender and found\u00a0Sousa\u00a0inside the box for a header that sailed over the crossbar.<\/p>\n
Dynamo Academy goalkeeper\u00a0Roman\u00a0Kerimov\u00a0was called into action in the 20th\u00a0minute, getting low to safely secure a long-distance shot from Edouard Nys. The shot stopper finished the night with five saves.<\/p>\n
Midfielder\u00a0D\u2019Alessandro\u00a0Herrera\u00a0tried his luck from outside the box in the 37th\u00a0minute with a powerful right-footed effort that forced the North Texas goalkeeper Eryk Dymora to dive low to his left.<\/p>\n
