He is under indictment on murder in the April 2025 death of Teresita Sayson, 58, whom Valdez beat, likely with a wooden jewelry box, authorities allege.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;It was <a data-ylk=\"slk:an exorcism;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;link&quot;,&quot;yLinkElementType&quot;:&quot;article_link&quot;}\" href=\"https:\/\/www.star-telegram.com\/news\/local\/crime\/article304681356.html\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">an exorcism<\/a>,&#8221; Valdez told police officers as he walked out of the killing scene, a far west Fort Worth house, and sat on a chair on the front porch, according to a detective&#8217;s account in an affidavit supporting Valdez&#8217;s arrest warrant.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">A psychologist in October 2025 determined that Valdez <a data-ylk=\"slk:was incompetent then;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;link&quot;,&quot;yLinkElementType&quot;:&quot;article_link&quot;}\" href=\"https:\/\/www.star-telegram.com\/news\/local\/crime\/article312964553.html\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">was incompetent then<\/a>. Competency restoration attempts usually involve medication and counseling.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Valdez had a Bible in his hand when officers arrived at the house. It&#8217;s my mom,&#8221; Valdez said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Police allege that Valdez, who is 24, killed Sayson by hitting her multiple times in the face and upper body with an object that they suggest in the affidavit is a wooden jewelry box.
