You show up, buy some homemade baked goods, help fight Alzheimer’s and potentially leave with enough cookies to completely ruin whatever diet you planned to start Monday.<\/p>\n

The Alzheimer’s Association West Texas Chapter<\/a> is inviting Lubbock-area residents to a special Walk to End Alzheimer’s<\/a> bake sale and team recruitment event on Monday, September 14th.<\/p>\n And every dollar raised from the baked goods goes toward Alzheimer’s care, support and research.<\/p>\n Local Walk to End Alzheimer’s teams will provide the goodies for the fundraiser at Bubba’s 33<\/a> in Lubbock.<\/p>\n Baked goods can be dropped off beginning at 3:30 p.m., with the actual bake sale running from 4 to 8 p.m.<\/p>\n READ MORE:\u00a0Texas Tech Hosts Joint-service Color Guard Performances At Home Games This Season<\/a><\/p>\n The event is free and open to the public, so you don’t have to already be involved with the Walk to stop by.<\/p>\n In addition to buying something sweet, you’ll be able to meet Alzheimer’s Association staff and volunteers and learn how to create your own team for this year’s Lubbock Walk.<\/p>\n And some local teams are already doing some serious fundraising!<\/p>\n One Lubbock Team Has Already Raised More Than $11,000<\/p>\n Team captain Becky Pillow said,<\/p>\n Team Vorheis has already raised more than $11,000 and counting toward this year’s Walk. We’re encouraging everyone to come out to this fun event and support the Walk to End Alzheimer’s.<\/p>\n They’re not the only ones raising money.<\/p>\n The Lubbock Walk to End Alzheimer’s<\/a> has already brought in more than $100,000 toward its 2026 goal of $145,000.<\/p>\n That’s a pretty impressive start.<\/p>\n The Lubbock Walk Happens October 3<\/p>\n This year’s Lubbock Walk to End Alzheimer’s is scheduled for Saturday, October 3rd, at 9 a.m. at Adventure Park<\/a>.<\/p>\n The Walk is free, family-friendly and even pet-friendly.<\/p>\n The Alzheimer’s Association describes Walk to End Alzheimer’s as the world’s largest event dedicated to raising awareness and money for Alzheimer’s care, support and research.<\/p>\n And we’re talking about a disease that affects an enormous number of families.<\/p>\n More than 7 million Americans are currently living with Alzheimer’s, while nearly 12 million family members and friends provide care for people living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia.<\/p>\n Here in Texas, more than 450,000 people are living with Alzheimer’s, supported by more than 1 million caregivers.<\/p>\n Those are some staggering numbers.<\/p>\n Sometimes supporting a good cause requires running a 5K, climbing a mountain or doing something else that reminds me how badly I’ve neglected cardio.<\/p>\n This one requires buying a brownie.<\/p>\n![\"a](\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/photo-1717692321343-06f8afdbccdc.jpeg\")
