On Thursday, on the anniversary of its founder\u2019s assassination on a Utah college campus, far-right nonprofit Turning Point USA will host a vigil at the University of Texas at San Antonio for Charlie Kirk, according to details posted online. <\/p>\n

The event, dubbed \u201cFreedom Built to Last,\u201d comes after tensions arose on college campuses nationwide in the wake of the conservative provocateur\u2019s shooting by a lone gunman. UTSA officials didn\u2019t respond to the Current\u2019s request for comment about whether the school plans additional security for the gathering. <\/p>\n

Shortly after Kirk\u2019s assassination, Turning Point USA\u2019s UTSA chapter held an on-campus vigil for the controversial podcaster. One student, 19-year-old Xaelyn Dunbar, was arrested over allegations<\/a> he made threatening online comments about the event, reportedly threatening to use his truck to \u201cmake sure this won\u2019t be a good nor comforting vigil.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the aftermath of Kirk\u2019s death, Republican Gov. Greg Abbott ordered investigations of public school teachers<\/a> and university professors who made disparaging social media posts about his passing. <\/p>\n

Similar investigations and purges initiated by Republican elected officials nationwide upended the lives of some 600 people who made remarks about Kirk after his death, Reuters reports<\/a>. A new analysis<\/a> by online news outlet The Intercept found that some of those individuals remain without jobs after being caught up in \u201cone of the biggest mass censorship campaigns in modern history.\u201d<\/p>\n
